privacy policy
Cairn is built privacy-first. Your journal stays on your device.
What we collect
The Cairn app collects nothing: no account, no sign-in, and no analytics or tracking. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. This website's only data is the email you choose to give us for the launch waitlist — used solely to notify you when Cairn is available. It is never sold or shared, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Where your data lives
Your entries and everything derived from them — moods, themes, insights — are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to any server.
On-device intelligence
Writing analysis, transcription, and text recognition run locally using Apple's on-device models. Your content is not sent to the cloud for processing.
Network use
The Cairn app makes no network calls to us or any third party. The only network activity is Apple's own on-device model downloads, handled by the operating system.
Your control
You can delete any entry, or erase everything, at any time. Deleting an entry also removes its derived data.
Security
Data is protected at rest by iOS Data Protection, and you can enable a Face ID lock in the app's settings.
Children
Cairn is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone in the app, beyond the optional website waitlist email.

Changes
Because nothing leaves your device, this policy will rarely change. Any material changes will be posted here in the app and on this page.
